Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Sri Lakshmi Narayani Temple in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday. During her two-day visit to the state, she offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi.
The programme was organised by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), with Industries Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, senior officials and industry representatives also in attendance. Addressing more than 200 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) entrepreneurs, the Chief Minister said capacity-building was an important step towards the government’s ‘4-P Reform’ agenda — Policy, Process, Performance and Partnership. Gupta said the Central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, had approved Rs 49.74 crore for Delhi under the RAMP scheme. More than 30,000 MSMEs will be connected with modern skills and training by January 2027, while more than 10,000 businesses will be linked to digital platforms such as GeM and ONDC to help them reach larger markets, according to the government. He said the government had inherited around 12,000 industrial units with infrastructure in serious disrepair and several issues that had remained unresolved for years.
She said stronger cooperation between the government and entrepreneurs could give fresh momentum to Delhi’s economy. She said the government’s support for MSMEs was centred on four areas – finance, training, technology and market access. The government wants Delhi-based businesses to expand beyond local markets, first reaching customers across India and eventually international markets, she said. Gupta said the Delhi government would continue to take up issues concerning traders, industrialists and entrepreneurs with the Centre. Industries Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa said Delhi’s industrial sector was undergoing a broad transformation under Gupta’s leadership.
