The persistent rains have been a concern for residents, impacting daily commutes and travel plans.
Severe Weather Disrupts Delhi-NCR Air Travel
A recent bout of rain has intensified the impact of adverse weather in the Delhi-NCR region. Following heavy showers, which had already caused significant disruption, additional rainfall has exacerbated conditions. On Monday, 26 flights were cancelled, 15 diverted, and over 390 delayed due to waterlogging and prolonged traffic jams that affected transportation across the area.
Severe Weather Disrupts Flight Operations in Delhi
As of the latest reports, airport authorities have not released an official statement regarding the impact of severe weather on flight operations. Akasa Air confirmed that adverse weather conditions in Delhi have affected several flights within its network. The airline has advised passengers to verify their flight status prior to heading to the airport and expressed apologies for the disruptions caused by the weather.
Yellow Alert Issued as Rainfall Intensifies in NCR
Gurugram and Faridabad are now under a yellow alert due to expected increases in rainfall, while Noida continues to experience heavy cloud cover without a specific weather warning.
This ongoing rainfall has resulted in Delhi recording cumulative precipitation levels above normal at multiple monitoring stations. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has linked the intense rainfall to the interaction between a middle- and upper-level western disturbance and a lower-tropospheric trough that extends towards southwest Uttar Pradesh.
