Crane Collapse at Construction Site in Satya Niketan
A crane collapsed at a construction site in Satya Niketan while work was in progress, causing heavy machinery and debris to fall onto the area where workers were present. Rescue teams have been deployed to clear the debris and access those potentially trapped beneath it. Local police and fire brigade units are on-site, with more than four fire tenders assisting in the operation.
Rescue personnel are carefully removing the fallen crane and construction materials as they search for any workers who may be caught underneath. Heavy equipment is being utilized to facilitate the clearing of the site and to create safe access to the affected area.
This incident follows a prior building collapse in April 2022 in the same locality, which resulted in the deaths of two laborers and injuries to four others. In that case, the police subsequently arrested the contractor responsible for the renovation work.
The cause of the crane collapse has not been established. Officials are expected to inspect the site and examine the equipment as part of the investigation. The Gandhinagar accident comes days after a deadly building collapse in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area.
A five-storey building being used as a private student hostel collapsed on September 6, killing seven people and injuring several others.
