India will begin their three-match T20I series against Afghanistan when the two sides meet in the opening game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, September 13. The match will get underway at 7 PM IST.
India will be led by Shreyas Iyer, while Ibrahim Zadran will captain Afghanistan in his first series as the team’s full-time T20I skipper. India have named a strong squad for the series, with Jasprit Bumrah returning to the T20I setup after being included in the squad following fitness clearance. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is also part of the squad and will be one of the players attracting attention. Shreyas Iyer will lead the side, with Tilak Varma appointed vice-captain. Fast bowler Harshit Rana was ruled out after suffering a rectus femoris strain during a match simulation, with Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur named as his replacement.
