Pakistan men’s cricket team head coach Mike Hesson said his side will try to put India “under pressure” if the two teams meet at the Asian Games 2026, while acknowledging that Team India currently sets the standard in white-ball cricket.
“We are preparing as best as we can and if we get an opportunity to play (India), we will certainly put them under pressure as we were able to do in the final of the Asia Cup. There is a lot of cricket to be played between now and before being able to play the final for both sides, so we are not getting too far ahead of ourselves,” he added. Hesson framed the tournament as a chance for emerging players and for Farhan to gain captaincy experience, while stressing that the immediate priority is winning the quarter-final rather than looking ahead to India.
He also revealed that the players have undergone extensive training to adapt to different pitches and playing conditions expected during the tournament.
