On the morning of September 24, 2026, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) detained a man at Pune Airport suspected of being a serial fraudster. The suspect allegedly deceived an arriving passenger, resulting in a loss of Rs 11,000. During the apprehension, authorities discovered that he was in possession of documents that indicated multiple identities.
The apprehension followed heightened surveillance by the CISF Intelligence Wing. Following that incident, the CISF had stepped up vigilance in the airport’s City Side area. Following the preliminary investigation and the formal complaint by the arriving passenger, the suspect was handed over to the Vimantal Police Station in Pune for further legal action and detailed investigation.
On September 1, a departing passenger had allegedly been cheated of Rs 18,600 using a similar modus operandi.
Suspect Identified in September 1 Fraud Incident
Authorities have confirmed the identification of a suspect linked to a fraud case from September 1. Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) matched the suspect’s activities with CCTV footage from that day, leading to his apprehension. During subsequent questioning, the individual admitted to his involvement in the earlier fraud case. A complaint regarding the cyber crime had already been filed in connection with the incident.
