A domestic fight at a home in Delhi ended in a tragedy when a 31-year-old software engineer died after he was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws.
The incident took place this morning when an argument broke out between the victim, Vinay Gupta, and his wife, Rekha, over giving medicine to their child.

During this time, Rekha left the house after contacting her family members, who later arrived at the couple’s residence in Delhi’s Nihal Vihar. CCTV footage from the incident showed Rekha wearing a red suit and her sister-in-law in a blue suit. The footage also purportedly showed Rekha’s two brothers, her father and another man in a car. When she returned, she found her son being attacked. Minutes after the assault, Vinay’s neighbour was carrying him on his shoulder to take him to the hospital. Rekha’s family members were also seen standing behind him. Soon, the victim was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Around 10 minutes later, she returned with her two brothers, sister-in-law, father and uncle, along with other family members.
According to the victim’s mother – who was living with the couple – she had stepped out to arrange water and refreshments for the visitors when the alleged assault began. She tried to intervene and called for help, pleading with them to stop, but the assault continued, his family members said. The victim’s family said his in-laws strangled him and inflicted blows and kicks on his chest.
They alleged that the attack was a part of a pre-planned conspiracy, claiming that Rekha had switched off all the CCTV cameras in the house before the incident.
