Barely four weeks after calling off its protest against NEET leak at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after its main demand of education minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation was met, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a “peaceful march” in the national capital on September 5, claiming the Centre didn’t “implement what it solemnly promised”.
Apart from Pradhan’s resignation, the CJP had also demanded compensation for the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak. It also wanted the government’s assurance that no legal action would be initiated against protesters. After the minister stepped down, CJP called off the agitation, saying the government agreed to fulfil their demands. It also warned of further action should the agreed-upon terms not be met. Members of the Committee expressed serious doubts over whether the Government intends to honour its word at all,” it added. Our patience must not be mistaken for weakness,” it added.

The satirical group, which began on Instagram earlier this year and is now involved in political activism, said in a statement that its peaceful march will begin at India Gate and end at Delhi Police Headquarters, setting up a potential confrontation with the government. The satirical group said parents of NEET aspirants who died by suicide would lead the march. “CJP announces youth mobilisation on September 5th, with a peaceful march from India Gate to Delhi Police Headquarters, led by families of deceased NEET victims and victims of police brutality, over the Government’s failure to honour its July 25 commitments,” it said in the statement.
