Dubai has declared 10 days of official mourning following the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the younger brother of Dubai’s Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Flags across the emirate will fly at half-mast throughout the mourning period, which began on Monday. Sheikh Ahmed also served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security and held senior positions linked to Dubai’s security establishment. Sheikh Ahmed, who was 76, died on Monday, September 21, the Ruler’s Court announced. The mourning period follows the Ruler’s Court announcement on Monday, with flags to remain at half-mast across Dubai for 10 days.
He also prayed for his brother to be granted a place in Paradise and for his family and loved ones to find patience and solace. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his condolences to the Royal family and the people of Dubai on the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid. His efforts to serve society will be cherished by generations to come. I convey heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Dubai. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
He said that although Sheikh Ahmed was no longer with them, he would remain in their prayers and hearts. In an X post Prime Minister said, “Deeply saddened by the passing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
