Police have arrested Aleema Khan, the sister of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, at her home in Lahore ahead of a planned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest march to Islamabad on September 27.
Aleema Khan Sentenced to 30 Days in Jail
Aleema Khan has been arrested by Lahore’s district administration and sentenced to 30 days in jail. This decision follows intelligence reports that indicated her presence in public could present a significant threat to public safety, according to a report by Reuters.
He alleged that the court’s orders were being violated. The petition further alleged that arrangements had not been made for telephone conversations between Imran Khan and his sons twice a week, as directed by the court. On September 3, Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan filed a second contempt petition in the Supreme Court over what she described as the non-implementation of the court’s August 18 order.
The Islamabad High Court had directed that family members and lawyers be allowed to meet Imran Khan on Tuesdays, while party leaders were to meet him on Thursdays, according to Chaudhry.
Earlier this month, Imran Khan’s sisters were again denied a meeting with him despite an Islamabad High Court order concerning meetings with his family and lawyers.
Supreme Court Ruling on Imran Khan’s Medical Treatment and Family Access
On August 18, the Supreme Court issued a ruling regarding Imran Khan’s medical care and access to his family. The court mandated his transfer to Shifa International Hospital, where he is to receive examination and treatment from a multidisciplinary medical board. Additionally, the court granted him permission to meet with family members during this process. This decision follows ongoing legal challenges faced by Khan’s sisters in relation to his care and access rights.
