Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for enhanced collaboration among Global South countries to uphold international law and principles of relations. He emphasized the need for sovereign equality, non-interference, and peaceful dispute resolution, asserting that international rules should apply equally to all nations, regardless of their size or wealth.

In a recent statement, Xi urged these nations to champion multilateralism and reinforce the authority of the United Nations. He proposed reforms to multilateral institutions to improve efficiency and ensure equal participation in global affairs.

As part of these efforts, Xi introduced a BRICS special economic zone partnership aimed at establishing an intelligent portal for policy coordination and fostering open development. Additionally, he announced plans for a BRICS Forum on Trade in Services, set to launch next year, to facilitate trade and investment among member countries.

Xi also outlined China’s commitment to developing a BRICS digital ecosystem cloud platform. He pledged to provide digital skills training and promote technological exchanges, enhancing industrial cooperation within the group.

“Global South countries should jointly defend the rule of law in international affairs… and ensure that international law and international rules are applied to all, free from double standards,” Xi stated in an official release.
