On Saturday, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district recovered the body of a Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist, along with an M4 rifle. Officials reported that the terrorist had been killed earlier during a security operation in the area. The night-enabled M4 rifle was also found at the scene, indicating the nature of the confrontation that led to the terrorist’s death.
The operation was jointly carried out by the J&K Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) Doda, the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Several major operations have been carried out in the region in recent months. In Rajouri, Operation Sheruwali was a multi-week joint operation involving the Indian Army, J&K Police and the CRPF in the densely forested areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector. Security forces carried out fire assaults on suspected cave hideouts where heavily armed militants were believed to be hiding.
