On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared with people about ‘Swastha-Saksham Uttar Pradesh’ through his social media account on X. He described this transition from being compelled to seek treatment to having the assurance of healthcare security as the defining identity of a Swastha Uttar Pradesh.
The biggest proof of this transformation is that Uttar Pradesh, once associated with the ‘One District-One Mafia’ identity, is now setting new benchmarks in healthcare with its commitment to ‘One District-One Medical College’. This has not only expanded opportunities for young people to pursue medical education but also improved access to quality healthcare closer to home for the general public. The journey from the compulsion of seeking treatment to the assurance of healthcare security has become the new identity of a Swastha Uttar Pradesh.”
The Chief Minister wrote, “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and with a commitment to Antyodaya, the BJP’s double-engine government in the state has moved beyond the weak healthcare system that prevailed before 2017 and is working decisively to make Uttar Pradesh Sawastha, Saksham, and Atmanirbhar. The Chief Minister stated that the number of medical colleges in the state, which stood at just 36 in 2017, has now increased to 85. Similarly, the number of MBBS seats has risen from 4,690 to more than 13,600. The Chief Minister wrote, “More than 10 crore people in the state covered under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Abhiyan are now able to live healthier lives with dignity and respect, free from worries about the heavy costs of treating serious illnesses.
