On Saturday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out coordinated searches at three locations in Anantnag district, south Kashmir. The operation targeted individuals suspected of being overground workers associated with a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module. This group is believed to be involved in the transportation of military-grade weapons, ammunition, and explosives. The NIA’s actions are part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terror activities in the region.
The operation was carried out under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other stringent laws, with NIA teams receiving support from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police. He is suspected of aiding terrorists by arranging funds and using local networks to facilitate the transportation of arms before his detention. A Special NIA Court in Jammu has already issued non-bailable warrants against Yaqoob and two other absconding handlers.
The investigation dates back to March 31, 2026, when Jammu and Kashmir Police, during a routine anti-terror checkpoint within the jurisdiction of Zakura Police Station, intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat.
Tassaduq Hussain Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar and a resident of the Sadoora area of Anantnag, is a PSA detainee who had previously been listed in police records in connection with fraud-related activities.
The case remains under active investigation. No final charge-sheet has been filed so far as agencies continue to pursue leads to identify and neutralise the remaining network and prevent further cross-border terror conspiracies. The searches form part of an ongoing investigation in case RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU (FIR No. RC/2026/02), registered under Section 23 of the UAPA, Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, and Section 4 of the Explosives Act.
