In a significant operational success, Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with Army and CRPF units, delivered a strong blow to terror networks in the Valley with two back-to-back achievements on the same day. Security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition and explosive material during a meticulously planned joint cordon-and-search operation at Manzseer in north Kashmir’s Sopore. The operation was conducted under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Sopore, 52 Rashtriya Rifles, and the 177th and 179th battalions of the CRPF.
These coordinated successes by Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF reflect the sustained pressure being maintained on terror modules and the growing dominance of security forces across both north and south Kashmir.
The successful recovery under Tarzoo police jurisdiction once again underscores the high level of synergy and intelligence-driven operations being conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies in the Sopore belt, which has previously also yielded important explosive ordnance recoveries.
The deadly consignment was found hidden inside an abandoned house belonging to a Kashmiri Pandit family that had migrated from the area in 1990.
The seized material has been taken into safe custody, and a detailed investigation has been launched to establish its source, ownership and the circumstances under which it was stored.
