The new BCCI Junior Cricket Committee, which is set to be announced at the Board’s AGM next month, will have a new key responsibility: educating young cricketers about the dangers of drugs, betting and match-fixing. The BCCI has specifically listed promoting strong ethical values among young cricketers as one of the key responsibilities. This includes creating awareness about drugs, betting and match-fixing through interactions with senior and former players.
The BCCI has invited applications for five positions on the Junior Cricket Committee, with September 5 being the last date to apply.

The current committee’s last assignment will be the selection of the Rest of India U-23 squad for the Junior Irani Cup, featuring the CK Nayudu Trophy champions against the ROI U-23 side.
“Promoting strong ethical values among young cricketers, including awareness around issues such as drugs, betting and match-fixing, through interactions with senior and former players,” a BCCI release said. “Since these boys are vulnerable and there is so much money and fame riding even on U-19 cricket, the education should start early,” a BCCI official told PTI on condition of anonymity.
