Arshdeep dismissed Mitchell Santner in the final over of New Zealand’s innings to script two records. India pacer Arshdeep Singh unlocked multiple milestones as he returned figures of 1/38 in the fourth T20I against New Zealand in Auckland on Friday. The 27-year-old became the highest wicket-taker in a calendar year among players from ICC Full Member nations, having equalled Ireland’s Josh Little ‘s tally of 39 wickets during the third T20I. With 40 wickets in 2026, Arshdeep now stands alone at the top and became the first bowler from a Full Member nation to take 40 T20I wickets in a calendar year.

This surpassed New Zealand’s previous highest score of 254/5, which they had smashed four years ago against Scotland, and is the most by any team against India, going past the previous 257/3 that England had hit in Southampton earlier this year.

India conceded 259/7 in 20 overs, making this the highest total posted by a team against them in T20Is, surpassing the previous record of 257/3 by England. Phillips (107 from 49 balls), arguably the batter of the series so far, smashed his third T20I century, while Michael Bracewell also hit 65 from 25 balls to help New Zealand pile up their highest-ever T20I total and also the highest by any team against India in the format.
