Vinay Gupta, a 31-year-old software engineer, has reportedly died following an assault allegedly carried out by his in-laws in Nihal Vihar, Delhi. His family claims that Gupta’s wife and her relatives orchestrated the attack, asserting that it was a premeditated act. They are now calling for stringent action against those implicated in the incident.
His mother alleged that the woman then called her brothers and other relatives to the house. “When I rushed to save him, they beat me. When his father tried to rescue him, they assaulted him as well. Everything went dark before my eyes. There was no one else in the house. Gupta’s sister, who was present at the house when the incident occurred, also alleged that the attack had been planned in advance.
The incident took place early in the morning after an argument between Gupta and his wife over a matrimonial issue, according to the family. She had the CCTV cameras switched off,” the grieving mother said.
Gupta’s mother and sister, who spoke to reporters on Saturday, alleged that his wife deliberately called members of her family to the house following a marital dispute and that the attack was carried out within minutes of their arrival. The family alleged that six people were involved in the assault. “My parents and my brother were alone at home. In the morning, she had an argument over something and stormed out of the house. The allegations made by the family are yet to be independently established, and further details regarding the investigation are awaited.
Within just 10 minutes, she returned with six men from her family.
Four have reportedly been detained, while two are said to be absconding. She led them upstairs,” she said.
